Cheap But High Quality Medical Insurance In Florida -- Steps To Take If You Want It

What can you do to pay relatively little for adequate Florida medical insurance? There are tips you must understand and implement if you're really committed to getting big discounts. Following are some of such things...

1. There are drugs that are big brand names. Drugs that have such brand names cost a lot more than equally-effective drugs with less brand recognition and so increase your premium. But did you know that every generic drug has the same active agents as its big brand name version? Where the differences begin and end are in their selection of inactive agents.

The truth remains that you only spend more when you buy an established brand name drug and do NOT get anything extra in value. Discuss with your doctor about this.

2. You'll attract cheaper premiums if you pay by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). This authorizes your bank to credit your insurance provider with your payments automatically until you advise to the contrary. This saves the insurance company in many ways including eliminating the cost of mailing payment notices and the cost of processing checks. The insurer passes part of what they save to you by offering you lower premium.

3. If in your case it's tough to find a willing standard Florida medical insurance carrier due to a health condition you can make use of COBRA insurance. By the way COBRA stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985.

4. You can make considerable savings on health insurance in some states if you are a home business owner. Such states make it mandatory that insurance companies offer home based businesses the same rates as they do other (larger) businesses.

Having just a staff makes a home business eligible for such low rates in several states.

Always remember that a member of your family who works for you in a home business qualifies as a staff. You will still qualify for such group rates if such an employee works only part time.

This option gives lower rates because group rates are usually lower than rates for individuals.

To find out if you qualify or even if your state has such offer, call your state's department of insurance, department of financial services or their equivalent.

5. Although you are advised against self-medication, there are situtions where you shouldn't see a doctor. For instance, your doctor can really do nothing for someone who has a cold or viral infections. We all know that your doctor can't do you much good if you have a viral infection.

If your doctor can't do anything about a health condition then I think it's not advisable to spend about $100 on a visit to him or her. I also believe there are little home incidents that your first aid box will handle quite well.
If you don't know such simple things take out time to read books on them especially if you have little children. Most of those incidents would be well taken care of if you take some time out to learn a little about first aid and also have a good first aid box.

But even in those situations if you are not sure visit a doctor because it's better to lose money than to jeopardize your life. And a word of caution to those who may believe they have learnt so much (while they are not trained medical personnels) know what you should not even attempt unless there's no way to get to a doctor on time. There are cases you are not meant to even attempt if you are not a medical professional. Having the right balance is important in this and such matters. You'll spend less on your Florida medical insurance without endangering yourself or yours if you do this.
